The Napa Valley Grapegrowers got blasted in April by Glen Knight of The Wine House; saying that Napa is obscenely segmented, overly complacent, and too busy driving around in their father’s Cadillac, checking themselves out in the review mirror to actually take notice of the competition blowing past them!
Oh yeah, and a Carneros lifestyle vineyard went on public auction while some unnamed wineries are planting Chardonnay and their neighbor’s fruit is destined to drop on the ground in 2010!
There’s a lot of opportunity right now for Carneros to do the right thing. We wonder if they will? As an American Viticulture Area recognized globally as the premier AVA in California – THE Godfather of AVAs, it’s a wonder there isn’t more sentiment or drive among the growers and wineries in the area to collectively lead the Napa Valley Wine Industry towards the next generation of greatness.
As founding members of the original Los Carneros wine growing organization during the 1960s, we hope they will.
Perhaps Don Corleone said it best, “I want no inquiries made. I want no acts of vengeance. I want you to arrange a meeting with the heads of the Five Families. This war stops now.”
